Dr. Alberto Forteza has directed the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Hospital Puerta de Hierro, Madrid, Spain from 2015 to 2024.

He is currently head of the Cardiac Surgery Service at Quiron Madrid/La Luz Hospitals. 

His main contribution has been in the field of aortic valve repair, aortic aneurysms and Marfan syndrome, having one of the greatest experiences in the world in these techniques. 

He is also an expert in the implantation of ventricular assist devices and artificial heart. 

With more than 1,000 cases of repair performed and a scientific production of more than 100 publications in the main medical journals, he is extending the development of these techniques throughout Latin America with training activities and international courses. 

Dr. Alberto Forteza has been named one of the best Cardiac Surgeons in our country by Forbes magazine in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 y 2025.
